Do you have sensitive skin?

Does your skin turn red easily?

Do moisturizers tend to sting or make your skin red and look irritated?

Do many cleansers tend to dry and strip your skin?

The Mark Lees Sensitive Science line is especially made for ultra-sensitive skinIf you answered yes to these questions, you have sensitive skin. Sensitive skin can be hereditary, or can be the result of sun damage or environmental exposure. It can also be the result of improper, overly aggressive, or misbalanced skin care.

The Mark Lees Sensitive Science line is especially made for ultra-sensitive skin. Using science-based concepts, all products within the line have been dermatologist-tested for irritancy on humans by an independent consumer testing laboratory. They are all also non-clogging to pores.

Because fragrance and color agents are potential irritants and allergens, Sensitive Science products contain no color, no dyes, and are completely fragrance-free.

Normal skin is protected by a natural barrier made of natural moisture-binding lipids produced by the skin cells. These barrier lipids keep moisture in the skin, and irritants out.

In sensitive skin, this natural barrier is often impaired, resulting in dryness, dehydration and redness. Vital moisture can escape, and the poorly-functioning barrier allows skin to be much more reactive to irritants and the environment. Soaps, ordinary cleansers and toners tend to dry and irritate, too, further stripping the protective mantle.

By carefully choosing ingredients that do not strip the skin or damage the barrier, and adding ingredients to reinforce the barrier, Sensitive Science products will allow the skin to re-build its own natural barrier defense, resulting in more hydrated, supple, smoother-looking skin. When the skin’s barrier is restored, redness is reduced and the skin feels soft and healthy.

Ingredients that are known to strip and irritate sensitive skin, like detergents, alcohol, certain preservatives, and fragrances are carefully avoided in Sensitive Science products. In addition , ingredients known to prevent and reduce the appearance of redness are added to the line. Green tea, matricaria, chamomile, and licorice extracts are some of the ingredients used in the Sensitive Science line for their calming and soothing properties.

We also know that you are concerned about the signs of aging, as well as your sensitive skin. The latest science-based ingredients to reduce the visible signs of aging are blended into our treatment products so that the skin looks not only less red, but smoother, firmer, and more youthful.
